FAQs

Why should I take a paddleboarding lesson?

Taking a paddleboarding lesson is the best way to build a solid foundation and feel confident on the water—especially if you’re new to the sport or unfamiliar with ocean conditions. Our expert instructors will teach you essential skills like how to balance, paddle efficiently, turn, and safely get back on the board if you fall off. You'll also learn how to read currents, wind, and waves so you can stay safe and have more control while paddling.

A lesson can help you avoid frustration and shorten your learning curve, letting you spend less time figuring things out and more time actually enjoying the water. Whether you're looking for a peaceful paddle or a new way to explore the coastline, taking a lesson gives you the tools to paddle with confidence and make the most of your time out on the ocean.

If I’ve never been paddleboarding, can I go on this tour?

Absolutely! This tour is designed with beginners in mind. We start in calm, shallow waters where your guide will teach you the basics of paddleboarding, including balance and paddling techniques. Once you feel comfortable, we’ll head out to explore the mangroves at a relaxed pace, ensuring you have a safe and enjoyable experience. No prior experience is needed—just bring your sense of adventure!

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’
