Guided Phoenix Rock Climbing - Full Day

Central Arizona conjures up images of sun-scorched deserts, the iconic Saguaro Cactus and the metropolis of Phoenix. Little do many know, is that the Phoenix area and the adjacent mountain ranges hold a large array of high-quality rock climbing. Just outside of Phoenix are the McDowell Mountains, a series of granite peaks, home to a plethora of traditional and bolted climbs. An hour to the east of Phoenix is Queen Creek Canyon, a densely concentrated wealth of sport climbs of all grades. The season in the Phoenix area ranges from fall, winter and spring. 

McDowell Mountains Climbing

The McDowell Mountains are home to some of the best climbing in the Phoenix Basin. Encompassed within the McDowell-Sonoran Preserve, this McDowells are a great place the recreate and escape into nature from the bustle of the metro area. This is also a great place to both begin rock climbing push the grades. With many routes of an approachable nature and convenient access to the city, there’s something for everyone here. Phoenix has some of the warmest temperatures in North America and the McDowells are a perfect option in the winter months but are also climbable in the spring and fall.

Queen Creek Climbing

An hour to the east of Phoenix and just outside the town of Superior, Queen Creek Canyon is something of a climbing mecca. The rock in the canyon is welded tuff, a volcanic rock that makes for great sport climbing of all difficulty levels. Access to most of the climbs is very convenient. Being close to the Phoenix Basin it’s a great place to get away from the city and spend a day outdoors on the rock.
