Learn to packraft in the Alaskan wilderness on an exhilarating instructional-based packrafting adventure in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula!
Your trip begins on the edge of Kenai Lake where your KBA guide will show you how to inflate your packraft and instructs you on the basics of paddling a packraft and boating safety. With expert Packrafting instruction, you’ll spend 1-2 hours learning Packrafting skills and techniques on the lake. This will provide you time to get the feel for the packraft and offers opportunities to learn paddling techniques while taking in the breathtaking landscape.
Once everyone has paddled around for a while and feels comfortable in the packraft we break for a shoreside lunch. After lunch and a little more instruction you begin your journey down a 7 mile stretch of the mighty Kenai River. The river starts off nice and smooth, but with a swiftness that will quickly garner your attention and respect. The river is mostly class I-II, to II+ depending on water levels.
The majority of your time consists of packrafting and we may have time to practice advanced maneuvers, and re-run a few rapid sections. You may have tremendous wildlife sightings on this trip, so you’ll get every chance to pull over and snap photos. We finish the trip with a nice, scenic river float to the take-out, followed by some hoots and hollers and high-fives!

Day Tours – No Aircraft Involved
- 48+ Hours Before Departure: Refund minus a 10% admin fee (90% refund).
- Less than 48 Hours: No refund, full payment is forfeited.
- No-Shows: Full payment is required.
- Weather Cancellations by KBA: Full refund (100%). Rescheduling may be offered, subject to availability.
Day Tours – Includes Aircraft Travel
- 30+ Days Before Departure: Refund minus a 10% admin fee (90% refund).
- Less than 30 Days Before Departure: No refund, full payment is forfeited.
- No-Shows: Full payment is required.
- Weather Cancellations by KBA: Full refund (100%). Rescheduling may be offered, subject to availability.
Multi-Day Tours and Expeditions
- 60+ Days Before Start: Refund of deposit minus a 10% admin fee, or credit valid for one year.
- 60-45 Days Before Start: Payments forfeited, or 50% held as credit for one year.
- Less than 45 Days Before Departure: No refund, full payment is forfeited.
- No-Shows: Full payment is required.
- Weather Cancellations by KBA: Refund minus a 10% admin fee. Rescheduling may be offered, subject to availability.
Custom Tours and Tailored Bookings
- All sales are final. Changes or cancellations are not permitted.
Refunds exclude online booking fees, if applicable.
When Booked Through Another Agency
If you booked your tour through a third-party agency, their cancellation policy applies. You must cancel or reschedule directly with the agency you booked through. Do not contact Kenai Backcountry Adventures for cancellations or rescheduling made through other agencies.
