FAQs
What is the most popular section of river to take rentals?
There are multiple access sites to put in and take out on the Colorado River near Moab, in between an 18-mile section between Dewey Bridge and Sandy Beach. Other river access sites are Hittle Bottom, Onion Creek, Rocky Rapid, Take Out Beach, Big Bend, Goose Island, and Lion's Park/Moab Bridge Boat Launch.
The "Moab Daily" (a.k.a. Fisher Towers section), a 13-mile section of the Colorado River, runs from Hittle Bottom to Takeout Beach. Depending on the season and water level, rapids on this section ranging from Class I to Class III. The "Daily" is considered Utah's most popular river trip and is ideal for a short adventure, a group outing, or a first river trip, or an overnight camping trip.
Are permits required for the Moab Daily?
This section of the Colorado River is unpermitted. If you're exploring a different section, be sure to check permit requirements.
Do we need to reserve rentals in advance?
We strongly suggest that you book your trip as far in advance as possible. Our rentals do sell out, especially during the peak rafting season of May through August.
What if the weather is bad?
Rentals are rarely canceled due to weather and it is your responsibility to check conditions for your river trip. However, Paddle Moab reserves the right to postpone at their discretion due to weather or conditions they deem unsafe. If conditions or weather prohibits rentals, they will be rescheduled for future convenient time or the card will be refunded.
Are your rentals dog friendly?
Yes, you're welcome to bring your dog when using our rentals! Be sure to bring your own doggy PFD / life jacket. You'll be responsible for dropping your dog off at the put-in prior to meeting the shuttle, however, as we don't allow dogs in the van.
Do I need a special vehicle to transport the rental equipment?
Not at all. Since the sups and kayaks are inflatable, you can deflate them and put them into most vehicles once you're done with the float.
Do I have to book the shuttle through you or can I just get the rental kayaks and manage my shuttle?
The shuttle is completely optional! If you're just looking for SUP rentals and would like to plan your own rentals, choose this 1-day Moab kayak rental option.
