In the South Mountain Range of Phoenix are numerous famous landmarks including Fat Man’s Pass, Natural Cave, rocks tunnels, and giant boulders! On this tour, you’ll also be included in a few local secrets such as ancient petroglyph sites and abandoned mines! After hiking for a bit, you’ll be able to relax at a trail viewpoint with snacks and beverages provided by your guide.
With backpacks and snacks provided, all you need to bring is a good attitude and readiness for adventure! Experience the largest city park in the world at 16,000 acres and be ready to rock hop and scramble over multiple dry waterfalls! What to Bring / Wear

  1. Sturdy Hiking Shoes - Broken in/Used before with closed toes and grippy tread!
  2. Hiking Socks & Gaiters - Comfortable socks to prevent blisters and small shoe gaiters are helpful to keep rocks and sand from getting into the shoe and causing blisters or cuts!
  3. Comfortable Clothing - Make sure the clothing is moisture-wicking, lightweight, and fast drying! You may be sweating a lot in the desert heat! Also, the weather can change rapidly so having a few easy to remove and add layers always helps.
  4. Sun Protection - Brimmed hat, sunglasses, neck covering (may attach to hat), and UV deflecting long sleeve shirts can all help to combat the harmful and strong desert sun rays!
  5. Required Paperwork & ID Cards- Signed medical form if required, waivers, license, etc.
  6. Restroom Essentials - Extra toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a good idea!
  7. Trekking Poles - These can help on uneven ground or strenuous hikes!
  8. Cameras & Binoculars - Catch amazing pictures of the scenery and binoculars to spot wildlife from far away!

During the summer, to avoid extreme heat, the best times to hike are early mornings and evenings. The best time of year to hike is from October to April as you can avoid the heat of summer! Temperatures tend to be milder during the day with clear skies and lower humidity. Also, March to April is when the desert blooms with wildflowers!
