Description

Wilderness Canyoneering - Six Rappels and Superb Arches

Very few day hikes contain as many exquisite natural arches as the journey through Granary Canyon. And what a journey it is! Six fantastic rappels and a lot of tricky scrambling are encountered within the depths of this remote canyon, which houses at least seven major arches and scores of smaller ones. Over the course of this one-way hike we'll descend over 2,000 feet! And despite the day's numerous rappels, this hike is within reason for adventurous first-time rappelers. Are you ready?

We require a minimum of 2 people per trip.

Duration

This excursion runs 8-10 hours with a 42 minute drive to the canyon. Guests will meet at 7:00AM at the office to hopefully be on trail by 8!

Ages

This is a moderate to difficult trip and very long day, so we suggest a minimum age of 13 for Granary Canyon trips. Exceptions are sometimes made, so please give us a call or shoot us an email to discuss your options.

FAQs

Do I need experience? Expert guides will make this trip a blast for even the most novice of participants. However come prepared for a full day of activity, and bring your sense of adventure!

How big are tour groups? Every tour is private, so it will be just your own crew and a guide.

What is the weather like? Desert weather is full of extremes. Likely you'll be recreating here in the summer or shoulder seasons, so be prepared for daytime temperatures over 80 degrees.

Can I use my own gear? For insurance reasons, please leave your technical gear at home.

What safety measures are in place? All guides hold either state or AMGA certifications. Gear is replaced on a regular basis, and inspected before each use.

Can I bring my camera or phone? Don't bring anything you wouldn't mind losing. Packs get crushed, and phones can fall out of pockets on long rappels. A shockproof/waterproof point and shoot would be a great addition to your trip, but please leave valuables in your locked car or with the front desk.

Cancellation Policy

Groups of less than 10 people: All of your money will be refunded if you cancel prior to two weeks before your trip date. If you cancel within two weeks of your trip, but outside of 48 hours, you’ll be charged a $20/person deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your trip will not be refunded.

Groups of 10 or more people: A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking. This is non-refundable, unless our guides cancel due to weather. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours of the trip date.

Late Arrivals: Although our tours are private, and we will accommodate late arrivals as we can, occasionally a late arrival can cause tours later in the day and/or shuttle logistics to be affected. Because of this, we reserve the right to cancel your tour if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your scheduled reservation time. If a tour is canceled because of a late arrival, a refund will not be issued.

Weather: Full refunds are given if your guide cancels your trip due to bad weather. Our guides will make the final "go/no go" decision based on the safety of your group. If you decide to cancel because of uncomfortable weather, our standard cancellation policy will apply.

Travel Insurance: If you believe there is a chance that you will have to cancel your tour within the non-refundable 24-hour cancellation period, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance. We are not affiliated with any insurance companies, but can recommend www.travelexinsurance.com.
