Kayak Tour FAQs

When should I arrive?
You will want to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your trip starting. Allow for time to use the restroom, sign the waiver, get fitted for your life jacket and get some water.   Plan for three hours total for your kayak tour. That includes checking in, paddle orientation and safety lesson, our time on the water and transportation to and from our starting location.
What's the best time for a tour?
The earlier in the day you book your trip the better. The water is generally calmer in the morning and the intensity picks up throughout the day. There are also less people out and about in the morning which creates a more serene experience. We run Cave Point trips at 8:30, 9:30 10:30, 11:30 and 1:30. Eagle Harbor trips at 9 am and noon. Logan Creek Trips at 12.
Is there an age or weight limit?
Because the carrying capacity of the life jackets and kayaks we must place restrictions to be able to operate safely. The minimum weight limit is 40 lbs and the maximum is 250 lbs. Age is not as important as size and we can take anyone over 4 years of age.
What will the water be like?
We can never be exactly sure what mother nature has in store. Every morning we check weather reports to make sure the conditions are safe for our guests, and notify guests if conditions are not suitable for safe kayaking.
What kind of kayaks will we use?
You will be in "sit on top" tandem kayaks. Your guide will cover the correct method for paddling together and how to get the most out of your experience.
How much experience do I need?
NONE! Our goal is to get everybody capable out on the water and showcase some of Door County’s beauty.
Can I bring my own kayak?
Absolutely! If you have a kayak and would like to join us in your equipment you are more than welcome.
What are your policies for cancellations and inclement weather?
If your trip is canceled because of inclement weather you will be given a full refund. If for some reason you book a trip and are unable to make it you must notify us within 24 hours to get your full refund.
Where should we park when we arrive?
We have a parking lot out front to accommodate our guests. However it can  fill up and there is alternate parking along highway 57 and there is also additional parking across the street at Lakeside Park. Tuesdays the farmer's market is in town which brings in a large number of people to Jacksonport and finding parking may become a little more difficult. If you book a trip on Tuesday morning I would plan accordingly and add another 15 minutes onto your planned travel time. Weekends while not as busy as Tuesdays are busier than normal and you should give yourself additional time to get to our shop.
