Description

Explore the Island of Culebra - Departing Fajardo!

Set off from Marina Puerto Del Rey in Fajardo for an unforgettable day trip to Culebra, one of Puerto Rico’s most treasured islands. Hop on board one of our power catamarans and relax as we cruise toward your first stop—a tropical reef perfect for snorkeling. Here, you’ll slip into the clear Caribbean waters and discover colorful coral, tropical fish, and all the lively marine life that make Culebra’s reefs some of the best around.
Back on the boat, take a break with snacks, fresh fruit, our signature pasta salad, and a selection of refreshing drinks. Once you’ve had a chance to recharge, we’ll head to our captain’s favorite spot, the famous Flamenco Beach. Known for its white sand and bright blue water, Flamenco is the perfect place to swim, explore, or just soak up the scenery. If conditions call for a change, our captain might take you to Cayo Luis Peña or Culebrita Island—hidden gems with stunning beaches and crystal-clear swim spots.
As we cruise back to the mainland, enjoy incredible views of Puerto Rico’s coast and the lush El Yunque mountains in the distance. Whether you spent the day snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, or simply taking it all in, you’ll leave Culebra with memories of an island paradise that’s truly one of a kind!

FAQs

Do I need to know how to swim or snorkel?

You need to know basic swimming skills, know how to float, and, as long as you don’t fear the water, you’ll have fun! We do have floating devices available for all guests and underwater windows (on the East Wind) for those who choose not to snorkel.

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’

Are there sharks?

Shark incidents in Puerto Rico’s waters are extremely rare, and serious injuries are even rarer. When you enter the ocean, it’s important to remember that it’s a natural, wild environment with many types of marine life, including sharks. Although the chances of a shark-related injury are very low, they are still part of the ocean’s ecosystem, and the ocean should be approached with respect. By learning about sharks and following safety guidelines, you can minimize even this small risk.

Can you go underwater with a snorkel?

Yes, snorkels allow you to breathe with your face in the water at the surface. If you’d like to dive down, though, water will enter the snorkel, so you’ll need to hold your breath until you resurface. Once back at the surface, you can clear the snorkel by blowing out the air in your mouth hard. That should clear the snorkel, but if it doesn’t, tread the water, remove the snorkel from your mouth and dump the mouthpiece out.

Can I snorkel if I wear glasses?

Standard eyeglasses can’t be worn with a snorkel mask, but prescription masks are available for those who need vision correction while snorkeling. If you’re interested, consider looking into a prescription mask option before your tour. Alternatively, contact lenses can be worn under a snorkel mask, though it’s best to close your eyes if water enters to prevent losing a lens.

Can I snorkel with a mustache or beard?

You can snorkel with a beard or mustache but it can prevent a tight seal between the mask and your face, which may cause water to leak in. It is often recommended to shave at least your mustache before snorkeling. If you’d prefer not to shave your mustache, please bring petroleum jelly or chapstick with you. If you coat your mustache in that chapstick or jelly, it may be able to seal and prevent water from getting in.

CANCELLATIONS or rescheduling AND THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ON TIME:

**Cancellations must be 48 hours prior to the scheduled excursion to avoid full charges and or penalties.

We’re excited to offer Trip Protection! For a small additional fee, you can add Trip Protection to any non-private booking, giving you the flexibility to cancel up to 1 hour before departure. Simply select Trip Protection at checkout for added peace of mind.

**If you miss your excursions: arriving late or NOT showing up on the date of excursion, NO refund will apply. The fee is NOT refundable and NOT reusable.

**WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATIONS weather determinations are made by our captains & if we need to cancel an excursion due to weather you will be refunded or rescheduled to another date at no charge (only qualifies for original reservations). We will call, text, or send you an email to notify you as soon as possible, however, please note that due to the unpredictable weather in the Caribbean, on rare occasions cancellations may be done at the marina or rerouted to another destination. We watch the weather on an hourly basis, and in the tropics, the weather is often locally specific. Weather in San Juan is often different than on the east coast and islands, so please do not make the mistake of deciding not to arrive on your excursion because you think the weather might not be acceptable, as you will be charged as a no-show if the excursion goes out.

If you have a question about the weather conditions feel free to contact us at (787) 860-3434 or (787) 409-2485.
