About the self-guided tour

Head out on a self-guided adventure to Mokoli'i, Chinaman's hat, for some great paddling and amazing views. On this 3 hour experience, you'll be able to go at your own pace and have plenty of time to explore. We will be meeting right next to the beach, so we will help you get your kayaks set, get you all the gear you need, give you a quick demo, a safety talk and then let you explore. Feel free to ask the local guide any questions before heading out on your self-guided kayaking experience.

The paddle to Mokoli'i is generally very mild with a constant breeze towards the shore. Conditions are best in the mornings. It's good for beginners, but we suggest that you have kayaked in the ocean before or are an experienced paddler.

If you are looking for a real Oahu adventure, this is it. You will paddle through the ocean over a sunken lava plain sheltered by a barrier reef out to the Basalt Islet of Mokoli'i where you can choose to snorkel at the base or hike to the top for a panoramic view of the east side of Oahu. The climb to the top is quite an adventure, while short, there's a more technical climb to get all the way up the last part of the rocky face of the islet.
