Description

Learn to Surf in Rincon, Puerto Rico!

There’s no better place to catch your first wave than in the warm, turquoise waters of Rincon, Puerto Rico. Our two-hour beginner surf lessons are designed to make learning fun, approachable, and unforgettable. Whether you’re coming solo or with friends, you’ll not only pick up the basics of surfing but also share the stoke with fellow beginners.
We start on the shore with a hands-on introduction to surfing gear and ocean awareness. You’ll learn how to recognize the right waves for beginners and get familiar with your board, leash, fins, and wax. Safety is key, so our instructors will guide you through surf etiquette and teach you what to do in any situation. Then, it’s time to practice paddling, popping up, and balancing on your board before heading out to the water to ride your first waves.
No experience? No problem. These lessons are designed for anyone who’s ready to have fun, challenge themselves, and experience the magic of surfing. Join us in Rincon and let us help you turn your dream of surfing into a reality!

FAQs

Is previous experience required?

This tour is appropriate for beginners - no previous experience is required! You just need to be comfortable in the water and have basic swimming abilities.

What is the weather policy?

In the event that we need to cancel the tour due to weather, you will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

Do I need a wetsuit?

Water temperature in Puerto Rico ranges from 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter months (December-March) to 84 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months, so wetsuits are not necessary!

What sunscreen can I use and why does it matter?

Common sunscreens contain chemicals that can harm coral reefs, as the particles are small enough to be absorbed by corals, causing toxicity and coral bleaching. Reef-friendly sunscreens are formulated without these harmful chemicals. Reef-SAFE sunscreens go a step further by using non-nano particles, which are too large for corals to ingest, helping to preserve marine ecosystems.

Please avoid sunscreens with oxybenzone, octinoxate, and parabens. Consider wearing sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeve rash guards, as an alternative to sunscreen. If you choose a mineral-based sunscreen, ensure it is labeled ‘non-nano.’

Are there sharks?

Shark incidents in Puerto Rico’s waters are extremely rare, and serious injuries are even rarer. When you enter the ocean, it’s important to remember that it’s a natural, wild environment with many types of marine life, including sharks. Although the chances of a shark-related injury are very low, they are still part of the ocean’s ecosystem, and the ocean should be approached with respect. By learning about sharks and following safety guidelines, you can minimize even this small risk.

Customers will receive a full refund with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
